Serengeti Heritage Camp was established in 2014 with a simple but ambitious vision: to offer guests an authentic, immersive safari experience that honours the timeless traditions of East African exploration while embracing modern comfort and sustainable practices.
Nestled in the heart of Serengeti National Park, our camp occupies a prime location that offers access to some of the most prolific wildlife viewing areas in the ecosystem. From the thundering herds of the Great Migration to the intimate drama of a leopard hunt in the Seronera Valley, our position allows guests to experience the full breadth of the Serengeti's wonders.
What began as a small, seasonal camp has grown into a well-established operation that welcomes guests from around the world throughout the year. Yet we have remained true to our founding principle: that the best safari experience comes from a deep connection with the natural world, guided by people who know and love this landscape intimately.
The heart of Serengeti Heritage Camp is our team. Our safari guides are among the most experienced in the Serengeti, with decades of combined knowledge of wildlife behaviour, ecology, and the park's ever-changing dynamics. Many were born and raised in the communities surrounding the Serengeti and bring an intimate, lifelong connection to the land.
Our camp hosts ensure that every aspect of your stay — from the warm welcome on arrival to the meticulous attention to comfort and safety — exceeds expectations. Our kitchen team transforms fresh, locally sourced ingredients into gourmet meals that are a highlight of the camp experience. And our behind-the-scenes maintenance and logistics teams keep the camp running smoothly in one of the most challenging environments imaginable.
We are proud that the majority of our staff come from the communities surrounding the Serengeti. By providing skilled employment, training, and career development, we contribute directly to the economic well-being of the region and foster a deep sense of shared ownership over the park's future.
We believe that a safari should be more than a tick-list of animal sightings. It should be a transformative experience that deepens your understanding of the natural world, connects you with different cultures, and leaves you with a sense of wonder that stays with you long after you return home.
Our approach to safari is unhurried and attentive. We encourage guests to slow down, observe, and absorb — to watch a pride of lions for an hour rather than rushing to the next sighting, to listen to the bird calls at dawn, to share stories around the campfire under a canopy of stars. This philosophy extends to everything we do, from the pace of our game drives to the way we serve our meals.
Operating within one of the world's most important protected areas carries a profound responsibility. We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint and contributing positively to the conservation of the Serengeti ecosystem. Our initiatives include:
We believe that responsible tourism is one of the most powerful forces for conservation. Every guest who visits the Serengeti becomes an ambassador for its protection, carrying the story of this extraordinary place back to their communities and inspiring others to care about its future.
Our camp features spacious luxury tents, each built on a raised wooden platform with en-suite bathroom facilities, comfortable bedding, and panoramic views of the surrounding savanna. The camp's common areas include an open-air dining tent, a comfortable lounge area, and a campfire circle — the social heart of the evening.
We offer single, double, and triple tent configurations to accommodate individual travellers, couples, and families. Every tent is equipped with solar-powered lighting, charging points for electronic devices, and all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay in the bush.
Serengeti Heritage Camp is accessible by light aircraft from Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, and other Tanzanian airports, with daily scheduled flights to several Serengeti airstrips. Road transfers from Arusha are also available and can be combined with visits to Ngorongoro Crater and other attractions along the way.
Our team handles all transfer logistics, ensuring a smooth journey from your arrival in Tanzania to your first game drive in the Serengeti.
